Why Choose a career as a Phlebotomy Technician at Phlebotomy Career Training?
Our graduates become leaders in the field of phlebotomy and are more aware of infection control guidelines using the new sterile technique taught by Professor Kimmel. Students are given 25 live venipunctures at PCT . Each of the student’s are given personal one on one supervision and instruction by a registered nurse and certified phlebotomy technician. Graduating students are then are evaluated to determine their eligibility to attend a 40 externship at a local laboratory. Many schools profess to have externships, but after the student enrolls they are told they must find their own experience. This is almost impossible. At PCT, we understand the need for experience. Our students get to work one on one with experienced phlebotomists in a real life laboratory for forty hours. This experience is very valuable. Many graduates of PCT get hired after completing their externship. Our students are working at many of the dialysis clinics in the metro Detroit area, labs, hospitals and blood banks. These jobs will only hire students who are skilled and prepared in the field of phlebotomy, patient assessment and intravenous insertion. PCT students are given the opportunity to expand their skills not only in phlebotomy but in glucometer testing (diabetes blood sugar testing) and taking blood pressures . Skilled patient assessment techniques set our student’s above the rest.
GET INSTRUCTION FROM QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS!
PCT has raised the bar on teaching phlebotomy. We are the only school that teaches the sterile technique which is a similar technique that surgeons use in the operating room. The instructor, Nancy Kimmel is a Registered Nurse who holds a Certification as a Phlebotomy Instructor from the American Certification Agency for Healthcare Professionals (ACA) and a PhD. Dr. Kimmel is re-writing the curriculum on phlebotomy in America and offers students a comprehensive online “Black Board” based class.
A Certificate for Phlebotomy Technician is awarded to our graduate students by our school which is licensed by the State of Michigan. Student’s may also take the ASCP upon successful completion of their 100 draw externship.
OUR STUDENTS GET JOBS!
We are pleased to announce that we have placed over 95% of all students in their clinical externships. Also are students have been hired at many of the dialysis clinics, hospitals and blood banks. PCT helps students with their resumes and provide students with job leads. Many hospitals and agencies come to our school and recruit our students right from the classroom.
Individuals with skill in accurately obtaining blood samples and assessing patients health are in high demand in hospitals, clinics, physician’s offices, blood banks and research facilities. The median pay for a full-time phlebotomists in the United States (accounting for all experience ranges) averaged $28,264 in April 2009. SalaryCom. According to a recent survey conducted on February 1, 2010 by the web site Indeed.com, the average salary for job listings for a Phlebotomist by local Michigan health care facilities was $37,000.

Phlebotomy training programs
Hello
I was very interested in the Phlebotomy course offered. I was wondering if you needed all of the money up front, or if its paid through out? Also when is the next class starting up, or is their any openings now?
Thanks
Nicole MacKinnon
I am very interested in the phlebotomy technician course, is it a must to have been working in the profession of Phelbotomy Technician before you can get certified? Also how does payment work? Is it all upfront, or payments, or after completion of the course?
Thanks
Ryan Harris
Hello Nancy ,
I live in Il. , but I have been looking for a course in telemetry as well as phlebotomy to increase my odds . This is a second career for me . I don’t want to tie up time and money on a degree so these programs are of interest to me . I have been a contractor for 25 years . Economy and interest in something different made my decision for me . My wife is a RN and thought that would be a good fit for me. I took the cna to get started and have been working in home health since . I would like to expand . The Cardio-phlebotomy looked like it would be a nice addition to the cna and maybe open up some doors . I like the looks of the online triple program you offer . One question is , can I get clinicals some how by doing the online course through you ? I have no exp. with phlebotomy . The telemetry is what really interest me , is this a good starting point for me ? Any help via response or email would be most appreciated. Thanks Jim
can you email me info on prices and dates it starts
thanks
Jenn
Hello, I am currently looking for a phlebotomy course to enroll into. How long is the course and does the whole 750 for the course needed before the class start or is it broken down into payments? I will also like to know when do the classes start ?
I have few questions –
1.Do you pay all the money up front?
2.Do you guys help us find a job after we complete this course?
3. So its a 6 week class, how many days a week? & after our 6 week class we do 40 hours hands on? .. after that is their anything else we have to do?
Hi I was in your Garden City location a few days ago and spoke with a young lady who did answer a few of my questions…..However I do still have a couple quesrions. I wrote earlier, but I am trying again. The lady told me we need 30 draws there in class….but on the websight here it says 25…..and even if its 25, how are we supposed to get them all done meeting only a day or two a week for a few hours?? and in the forst two weeks??? Is there a reason this is having to be done in such a short amount of time?? Why is it to be done in such a rush??
And as far as the externship goes, is it seen to that we are provided a proper amount of time to do these 100 draws?? What is the exact time frame?? Thank you
so when is the next class start for the phlebotomy technician and how much
is it a certificate or cetifacation?? cause i got a certificate from a med assistant class at everest but that did not make me a certified medical assistant!! so when i go to get a job i cant cause all i have is the certificate!

Hello Scott
You will need to complete 25 successful draws to complete the course. Draws will not begin until your fourth week of class unless your instructor feels otherwise. Draw days are separate from class hours. After you complete your 25 draws we send you for a 100 draw externship. The hours and days of the externship is not in our hands it is up to the hospital, you will discuss that with them when they come in contact with you.
Thank you
Nancy
