Phlebotomy Students get 25 hours of Supervised venipunctures
December 23, 2010 No CommentsStudents at Phlebotomy Career Training are offered 25 venipunctures. Each venipuncutre that a student performs is supervised by a Registered Nurse and or Certified Phlebotomy Technician with over 20 years of experience. Students are given 25 hours of direct personal supervision. This type of practice is crucial in helping the students develop their sterile technique while maintaining patient safety. PCT believes that students should always provide for patient safety, patient comfort, patient rights and patient privacy. Which is why that the nursing process of patient assessment is stressed in relationship to providing safe venipuncture techniques. Many of PCT’s graduates have gone on to work in plasma bank donation centers, dialysis clinics, hospitals and out-patient labs. PCT has earned many accolades from hospitals and labs in Michigan testifying to the caliber and excellence of education that the students demonstrate in the profession of phlebotomy.
