This class is offered at the PCT school in Garden City. Students will meet on Mondays and Tuesdays during either morning hours from 8 am-2 pm or Monday and Tuesday evenings from 5-10 pm or Fridays and Saturdays from 8-2 pm. Students will perform hands on training in the classroom with instructor demonstration. Real life anatomical arms as well as other in class training materials are high medical grade and anatomically correct. Many of our training models are made from a Hollywood FX Movie prop manufacturer. Students can expect to be educated by instructors who possess either their MSN-FNP, Ph.D ,RN’ licensure or Medical student education. Class sizes are small, up to 9 students maximum. Not even accredited community colleges can boast of the level of instructor education for a typical medical assistant class. Every student receives individual attention. Students will go to a 1 day clinical prior to their 6th week in which they will assess patients from head to to and perform a pathophysiological analysis of the patients disease condition. PCT has brought on board several more health care facilities culminating a total of over 20 hospitals, clinics and physician offices which have entered into contracts with the school. Contracts are signed and awarded based upon the caliber of superior education which PCT provides. We are very proud of our relationships with the various hospitals, clinics, urgent care facilities and physician offices who have welcomed PCT students into externships. PCT medical assistant students are placed into externships through various clinics, urgent care facilities and physician offices after students have completed their 6 weeks of classroom/laboratory training, Free!. Students will be placed according to where they live if possible. The externship is not mandatory, but it is strongly recommended for experience. There is also a possible opportunity that the student will be hired directly after completing their externship with the facility where they trained. The externship is 204 hours total. Students may choose the days they are able to work during their interview with the medical assistant office manager during their initial interview. Each student will be given unlimited online access to PCT’s comprehensive web-based educational tutorials, which include video taped lectures from classroom, interactive practice tests, exams, Power Point presentations and much more. All books are included in the Mega 12 Free! Students can expect to receive books on EKG/Telemetry, Medication, ICD 10 Medical Billing and Coding, Kinn’s 9th or 10th Medical Assistant edition along with 2 workbooks. The cost of books alone are at least $300, and the student receives them at no charge.
Upon completion, students will receive a complimentary resume tailored exclusively to the students needs and strengths. While other schools use medical assistants to teach other medical assistants, PCT puts MSN,BSN nurses, and Medical School students in the classroom to instruct students in more complex patient care assessment and increase their understanding of diagnostic reasoning. This is one of the main reasons that our students are hired in many cases prior to even entering into their externship. Students who wish to take this program do not need any prior experience. They can be assured that everything which they need to know will be taught in the classroom, lab and in clinicals. Students will be given all study materials to them prepare for the national exam. This course is accredited by the NHA, NCCT and the AMCA. Students may complete the national exam at our school via either paper and pencil or via computer. PCT’s medical assistant graduates have on average a 95% pass rate on the national Clinical Medical Assistant exam. Prior to enrolling, students should have a negative TB test within the last year and perform a state wide criminal background check on themselves through Michigan I Chat
Students are given unlimited access to our schools web-based educational learning portal at no charge along with all books. Scrubs to be worn are hunter green. Students should also plan to bring a box on non-latex gloves to class.
