Medical Assistant, IV Technician, EKG Technician, Patient Care Technician, National IV exam, National EKG exam. Books are provided to students for in class use at no extra charge. This is an in class program which is 7 weeks in duration. At the end of the course we will assist in placing students in an unpaid externship of 204 hours. Students will have access to Phlebotomy Career Trainings job board which includes resume templates and job opportunities. Students have up to one year to take their national exam should they choose to do so. The national accrediting exam is not covered in the course tuition of the $1200. This course includes the following 6 certifications.

Electrocardiogram Certification
National Exam for Electrocardiogram Technician (through the NTA)
National Exam for IV Technician

Students can expect lecture and hands on practice when they come to class. Some of the topics and clinical skills which will be taught include the following;
Introduction to medical assisting
HIPAA Law (Health Information Portability and Accountability Act
Patient rights
Medical Terminology
Rooming a patient
Take a detailed patient history
Vital signs
Blood glucose monitoring
Drawing medication up from vials and ampoules
Reconstitution of powdered medication
Placing Electrocardiogram lead
Operating the EKG machine
Administering vaccinations to adults and children
Administering TB skin tests
Medication Calculation
Pill identification
Learning how to insert an IV and take out an IV
Assessing a patient for pain
Documentation using SOAP note charting
Veinipuncture (taking blood) The student will perform 6 blood draws
Basic patient care skills.. and much more
There will also be a one day clinical where students will go to one of our clinical sites to perform a detailed history and physical on a real patient.
What are students expected to have on the first day of class?
Hunter Green Scrubs
White lab coat (knee length)
Negative TB skin test in the last year (if students have had a TB test through their work, they may obtain a copy from their employer or human resource department)
Statewide background check. (Students may go online to Michigan I Chat)
All students will be required to have a urine drug screen to be done here at the school by week 3. This drug test must be performed at our school through Garden City Diagnostic Labs) The cost of this test is $35. This is a separate fee, not included in course tuition.
We strongly suggest that students purchase their own blood pressure cuff and stethoscope.
If the student is not able to purchase a blood pressure cuff and stethoscope, the school provides these for training at no charge which the student may use during classroom time.
Students may also purchase their scrubs, and supplies at the school below store prices.
We also have a payment plan available. The payment plan currently $400 month for 3 months. Students may check out using either Amazon or Stripe. If students are planning to check out through Amazon, they should first login to their Amazon account and then come back to the website to make their purchase.

Students will be provided complimentary textbooks for the duration of the class. After 7 weeks the books must be returned. Students will also have online access to adjuventive learning materials such as classroom videos, practice quizzes (these do not count against the students grade).
The books which will be provided to students includes Kinn’s Medical Assistant 10th edition and the EKG/Telemetry study guide through the NTA
Upon successful completion of the EKG portion of the course, students will receive a hand sewn patch to represent their skill in EKG.
