The 100% online course curriculum includes healthcare law and ethics, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and the various software programs commonly used in the medical field. Students will use their books to learn and resource on how to appropriately bill and code in the medical world. Students will prepare for employment in hospitals, physician offices, billing facilities, and other related businesses.

Upon course completion, students will need to pass the online certification exam to receive their Medical Billing and Coding Certification. Our online classes offer national accrediting exams which allow students to work anywhere in the U.S. and Canada.

Student Experience While Taking Our Online Medical Billing and Coding Class

The online Medical Billing and Coding Training is designed to work with your schedule. Courses are self-paced and accessible 24/7. The modules are also mobile-friendly. The curriculum can be completed in as little as 4 weeks, but you will have as long as 6 months to complete the course from the time of enrollment.

Students will need to pass a Medical Billing and Coding Certification Exam after completing the course to receive their certification. Phlebotomy Career Training’s Medical Billing and Coding program is recognized by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) as well as the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) and the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). All Medical Billing and Coding students receive one complimentary voucher to take the NHA, AMCA, or NCCT National Medical Billing and Coding Certification Exam. To be able to use the voucher students must schedule their exam at least 6 weeks prior to the expiration of their course.

Students should always check with their state department for their licensing or certification requirements. Some states may require additional training or examination before becoming qualified to work in that state.

Medical Billing and Coding Internship Requirements

Phlebotomy Career Training’s Medical Billing and Coding program does not require any internship requirements. Students can focus on studying and completing their courses online.

Do the online courses require an in-person test?

We offer one complimentary attempt at the National Medical Billing and Coding Certification Exam through the PTCB or the NHA. These examinations can be administered both online or in-person depending on the organization and local requirements.

How does the internship/ externship work?

As part of the Medical Billing and Coding Certification Program, students are not required to complete an internship.

Is Phlebotomy Career Training accredited?

Phlebotomy Career Training is a licensed proprietary school in the state of Michigan and our National Testing Partners which have approved our programs are accredited. This means that the student who graduates and takes their national exam will have accreditation through the National Testing Organization and is eligible to work anywhere in the United States. Phlebotomy Career Training offers clock hours. These clock hours can transfer to some colleges and universities for credit hours.
