Commencement Ceremony of Spring 2024 at
Phlebotomy Career Training

April 27th, 2024 was a beautiful blustery day in Dearborn, Michigan. For the graduates of Phlebotomy Career Training, it was day that will live on in their hearts and minds forever, because this was a day that will change the trajectory of their futures. This was graduation day. The graduates who attended we a mix of those who had taken the Tier1 and Tier 2 Clinical Medical Assistant program which included Clinical Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy Technician and Electrocardiogram Technician certificates. Other graduates took either the Phlebotomy Technician program or the combined Phlebotomy Technician, IV Technician and Electrocardiogram Technician Program as well as the Tier 3 and 4 Clinical Medical Assistant programs.
Their cords represented their grade point average. Many students brough their family and friends to the graduation ceremony. Phlebotomy Career Training’s staff, instructors and administrators attended in their required regalia. Each department gave their own speech to the graduating class. Many of the students decorated their caps with special words of thanks and
gratitude to their families and God.
It was a day where tears of both happiness and sadness flowed as their education at Phlebotomy Career Training had
completed and they were now off on a new adventure. Students made close bonds with one another throughout their four months of training.
Phlebotomy Career Training Spared No Expense
Phlebotomy Career Training wanted to make sure that this was going to be a graduation to be remembered. They rolled out the red carpet for all the graduates by catering pizza and desserts such as cakes and traditional sweets. They even had a
popcorn vendor. Refreshments were served such as soda and water. The two hours slotted for graduation turned into a a four hour celebration. A professional photographer was hired to photograph the event and take pictures of the graduates for posterity.
The Stage Walk
Each of the graduates took their turn walking across the stage so that they could be handed their certificate in front of their family, friends and classmates. Each of their certificates came prepared in a blue satin certificate holder embossed with the name of their school and the date of their graduation. A total of twenty two graduates took their turn as they each walked across the stage. Combined with family and friends, there were over one hundred people who attended the graduation ceremony.
The Elements Took Their Toll
As the staff set up the chairs and the stage, the wind was unforgiving. Towards the end of the commencement ceremony everyone had move the festivities into the school. Graduates held on to their caps and ran inside. Once inside the school, refreshments and food were served. It was the very first graduation ceremony that entailed such a large production. However, it will not be the last, as another commencement will be held in July of 2024 for the more recent graduating classes.

Nancy L. Kimmel obtained her PhD in Environmental Engineering in 2002, then went on to teach Physics and Mechanical Engineering at Lawrence Technological University, Henry Ford College and Oakland University. She obtained her Associate in Nursing from Henry Ford College and then went on to earn her Master Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner and became Board Certified working as a licensed FNP in the State of Michigan. She then went on to Medical School where she is now in her 3rd year, and is also in the process of obtaining her Doctorate in Nursing Practice through Chamberlin University. She has authored the NET Study Guide, as well a several books on subjects of Math, ECG/EKG and Phlebotomy. She holds a patent on an Air Filter through the U.S. Patent Office.
