ECG Technician Tier 3 Internship Requirements

ECG Technicians must complete a clinical of 40 hours of live EKGs observation or 10 live EKGs for our EKG clinical core requirements to graduate from our program. Each EKG requirement must be supervised and signed off on a clinical competency form that will be provided to the student.

A virtual alternative is available for ECG Technicians who are unable to find an internship in their area.

Telemetry Technicians in the ECG Technician Tier 3 program are not required to complete a clinical externship. Students can focus on studying and completing their courses online.

IV Technicians in the ECG Technician Tier 3 program are required to complete an online virtual internship that allows them to use their kit to complete the program’s clinical core requirements. The student is expected to use the kit included in the program to record an IV Venipuncture project video where they will demonstrate their IV skills for their instructor. The videos will be reviewed and graded. Students will have the opportunity to re-do their IV venipuncture video as deemed necessary by the instructor.

Each skill requirement must be supervised and signed off on a clinical competency form that will be provided to the student. Students are responsible for finding internships at their location. Urgent care centers, doctor’s offices, hospitals, and other clinics are popular internship locations. We recommend students begin their internship by the end of their second module for each course.

Students can submit a letter from their employer on company letterhead or a notarized resume as proof of experience in the last 16 months to waive their clinical requirement.
