Student Experience
The Administrative Medical Assistant program is fully self-paced and accessible 24/7 through the PCT Institute student portal. The curriculum is mobile-friendly and designed to fit around your existing schedule — whether you’re working, raising a family, or transitioning from another career. Most students complete the coursework within their enrollment window, and you’ll have up to six months from the date of enrollment.
Upon registration, you’ll create a personal account with immediate access to your program materials. A dedicated instructor will reach out within 24 hours with a welcome email covering your account setup and program overview. Your instructor is available throughout the program to answer questions, and tutoring sessions via Zoom are available at an affordable rate from licensed nurses and healthcare professionals.

Prerequisites
Students must be at least 18 years of age. A high school diploma or GED is not required but strongly recommended. No prior healthcare experience is required. The 204-hour clinical externship is a required component of the program; students with prior qualified experience may submit documentation for a waiver review.

- Phone Techniques & Scheduling (100 hours) — professional telephone protocols, patient callbacks, referral coordination, and insurance verification
- Patient Intake (100 hours) — collecting demographic data, insurance information, and chief complaint documentation
- Medical Coding & Billing (150 hours) — ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding, claims submission, and reimbursement processes
- Patient Records & EHR (100 hours) — electronic health record management, filing systems, record retention, and release of information protocols
- HIPAA & Confidentiality (100 hours) — privacy rules, security requirements, breach notification, patient rights, and sensitive information handling
- Vital Signs & Symptoms (100 hours) — blood pressure, pulse, respiration, oxygenation, temperature, height, and weight collection
- Medical Terminology (100 hours) — prefixes, suffixes, root words, and clinical documentation language
- Professional Conduct & Therapeutic Communication (96 hours) — workplace ethics, patient interaction standards, active listening, empathy, and culturally sensitive communication
- Off-Site Clinical Externship (204 hours) — supervised practice in a real healthcare setting
