For students who are interested in adding two more widely sought after certifications by employers, we now offer the three certification This is the Tier II Medical Assistant program, which includes clinical medical assistant, Electrocardiogram technician and phlebotomy technician.
Students are provided with a book on phlebotomy and EKG upon enrollment in addition to online access. Books are to be returned at the end of the 14 week course.  Students will come to class twice a week for 4 hours sessions for 7 weeks.  After this the student will continue to come to the campus on site lab to complete their IV and EKG training along with their blood draws.  Students will be at the school and lab 2-4 hours weekly for the second 7 weeks.

Per national accrediting requirements All Medical Assistant programs should teach the following;

Patient therapeutic communication

Vital signs Blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration,

Height and weight

Rooming a patient

taking a history and physical with interview techniques

Live classroom simulation and demonstration of skills on volunteers.

Intramuscular injections, at various sites, amounts of medication to be given, adults, teens, children and infants

How to assist Physician in sterile technique

Mono-stat, rapid strep in office tests

IV insertion, medication drip calculations

Body Mass Index analysis with CDC graphs

Assisting in Physician in minor surgical procedures

Drawing up medication through ampules

Drawing up medications reconstituting powdered medication

Medical Electronic health records

Drug screens

Assisting patient in various medical positioning

Processing Specimens

Storing medication and vaccines

Administering dosages, (Medication Calculation)

IV insertion and calculation

Assisting in pelvic examination

Applying ECG leads and interpreting Telemetry

Anatomy and physiology of the heart

SOAP Note charting

Medical Terminology

Follow up visits and after care of patient

Books will be provided to all students upon enrollment and must be returned after course is completed.  Students will attend a one day clinical at a specified health care facility with a Registered Nurse BSN and perform a history and physical on a patient.  All students who display exemplary performance will be offered a 204 hour clinical externship with a local urgent care or physicians office.  Students who wish to take the NCCT national accrediting exam will be eligible to take the exam within 6 months of graduation via computers at our school under the supervision of our new proctor. The national exams are not part of the course tuition and students must register with the credentialing organization of their choice at least one month prior to testing.

All classes are taught by any of the following experts; Family Nurse Practitioner, Trauma Nurse; RN/Medical Assistant, Certified Phlebotomy instructor

About Your Instructor
Nancy Kimmel, PhD, CNP

Professor Kimmel, director of the school, has complied all her years of experience as a university professor to build courses with a curriculum designed to graduate proficient and competent students in their prospective medical career choice. Mrs. Parr is a registered nurse and pediatric medical assistant.  Mrs. Weaver is a trauma nurse.
